Known for his landscapes and paintings of religious figures, Raimon Roca Ricart always paints with a wonderfully vivid palette, celebrating the natural Mediterranean colours of his homeland. This magnificent piece honours colour over form, even more so than many of Roca's well-known paintings.
Born in Vic, Spain in 1917, Raimon Roca established his career as an artist in Sabadell, going on to continue his training at the Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes of Barcelona. Having worked closely with Antoni Vila Arrufat, Roca had his first solo exhibition in Sabadell in 1941, and went on to hold many more throughout his career.
