Description
This impressive vintage hand-knotted Caucasian Kazak-style kilim runner displays a striking series of stepped lozenge medallions arranged along a terracotta-red field, framed by deep indigo panels densely decorated with traditional tribal motifs. The bold geometric composition, crisp angular drawing and harmonious palette of madder red, indigo, ivory, camel, sage and pale blue reflect the enduring aesthetic of the Caucasian weaving tradition. 

Region & Attribution
Caucasus, woven in the Kazak tradition. Based on the geometric medallions, reciprocal sawtooth outlines, stylised tribal motifs and broad border design visible in the photographs, this rug is best attributed to the Caucasian Kazak weaving tradition. It may have been woven in the South Caucasus or by later workshops inspired by historic Kazak examples.

Design
A sequence of large hooked diamond medallions enclosed within serrated outlines dominates the composition, surrounded by numerous protective tribal symbols, rosettes, latch-hooks and stylised floral motifs. The spacious layout and bold drawing are characteristic features of Kazak-inspired tribal carpets.

Terracotta red, indigo blue, ivory, camel, pale blue, olive green and muted brown.

Condition
Good vintage condition consistent with age and use. There is even wear across the pile, minor losses to the ends and fringes, and some small areas of historic wear and restoration visible in the photographs. The rug remains structurally sound and presents attractively.
