A large vintage hand-knotted Persian rug with an elegant all-over floral design, measuring approximately 339 × 247 cm.

The rug features a soft ivory and cream field densely decorated with scrolling vines, stylised flowers and palmettes in muted tones of coral pink, pale blue, turquoise, navy, terracotta and soft green. The open ivory ground gives the rug a lighter and more decorative appearance than many traditionally darker Persian carpets.

The central field is framed by a series of finely worked borders, including a broad floral band in warm salmon-pink tones and narrower dark blue guard borders. The combination creates a particularly attractive balance between the pale central field and the more richly coloured perimeter.

Hand-knotted in the traditional manner, the rug has the detailed drawing and subtle irregularities associated with handmade Persian weaving. Its generous proportions make it particularly suitable for a large sitting room, dining room, bedroom or other substantial interior.
