A generously proportioned antique terracotta vase, dating from the 18th or 19th century, with a beautifully balanced form and attractive aged surface.
The vase features a broad, rounded body tapering towards a narrower base, with a short cylindrical neck, pronounced rolled rim and two elegantly curved handles. Its warm ochre glaze is punctuated by irregular areas of dark brown and black, creating a richly textured, almost abstract decorative surface.
The glaze has developed a wonderful patina over time, with extensive wear, fine crazing and areas of exposed terracotta contributing to its rustic character. The simplicity of its form and earthy colouring give the piece a sculptural quality, making it equally appealing as a decorative object in both traditional and contemporary interiors.
