Description An expressive impressionist maritime painting depicting a crowded industrial waterfront, with overlapping boat hulls, timber structures and a large vessel rising in the background. A small white rowing boat occupies the foreground, contrasting with the darker, rust-coloured forms behind it. Broad, visible brushstrokes describe the vessels and their reflections in a restrained palette of blue-grey, deep green, cream and earthy red. Vertical masts and angular framework give structure to the composition, while broken touches of pale paint suggest movement across the water. The reverse bears the inscription “Desguaces”, suggesting a shipbreaking or marine salvage setting. Presented in a gold-toned frame with a black outer edge and a fabric-covered inner slip.

Our Opinion An interesting industrial maritime composition, distinguished by its layered vessels, angular structures and contrast between cool water and warm, rust-coloured hulls. The apparent shipbreaking subject gives it a particular documentary interest.
