This late 17th or early 18th  century dish from Teruel, Eastern Spain, is known as a 'cata-vinos' ('wine taster'). Exquisitely painted in blue with images of flowers and a hare, this precious piece has been lovingly repaired, showing signs of a long, well-preserved life. The exceptional care reminds us of Japanese Kintsugi practice, in which broken pottery is mended with gold lacquer, in order to preserve the beauty in the history of the object.
