He's had a hard life but is full of character and reverence. With a distinctive carved face and beard with what appears to be remaining original polychrome colouring, he has a look of contemplation and conviction. Polychrome is also remaining on various parts of his clothing.
A substantial fascinating decorative piece that has a story to tell. This carving could certainly be as early as the 17th century.
The size of this piece invokes the stature and presence of a saint, his wear and tear sculpted by the passing of centuries... A fantastic piece waiting for his next home.
