A large abstract oil painting on canvas, provisionally dated to the mid-20th century or slightly later. The vertical composition combines broad passages of deep navy and vivid blue with an expansive ochre field. A loosely outlined, vessel-like form occupies the upper centre, articulated through curved and angular lines and a circular motif.
The composition shows stylistic affinities with William Scott’s simplified still-life forms, Ben Nicholson’s overlapping geometric outlines, Roger Hilton’s gestural abstraction and Paul Feiler’s layered colour and spatial structure.
Layered brushwork, dry-brushed passages and fine linear marks reveal the canvas texture and underlying colour. Dark painted bands enclose the composition, which is presented in a narrow wooden frame.
