Louis Jourdan was a celebrated French painter, who lived from 1872 to 1948. He exhibited in Lyon from the end of the 19th century and later at the famous Salon in Paris, where he was a gold medalist. A museum is dedicated to him in Saint-de Varax in the Ain.
This is an exceptional example of the gentle 'plein air' landscapes scenes which the artist became famous for.
