Description
An antique French brass monocular microscope presented with a fitted wooden carrying case and a selection of optical accessories. The instrument combines a cylindrical body, substantial horseshoe base, blackened specimen stage and adjustable mirror beneath, creating a distinctive contrast of golden brass and dark metal. Its engraved maker’s inscription identifies C. Vérick of Paris and describes him as a special pupil of E. Hartnack. The compartmented case incorporates shaped supports, a small internal wooden accessory box, brass carrying handle and a lock with a key present. Accompanying pieces include a separate eyepiece, additional optical fittings and a small fitted lens case, together with three labelled bottles shown in the photographs. Surface wear and areas of oxidation give the ensemble an aged appearance. A characterful scientific instrument for a study, library or cabinet of curiosities, with particular appeal for anyone interested in historic optics and precision engineering.
