In this brilliant ‘en plein air’ impressionist study of light shining through a dense wooded area, the artist’s loose brushwork allows the daylight to creep through the trees in a subtle yet beautiful manner. In a style reminiscent of the later work of Claude Monet, such as his Weeping Willow paintings (1918-19), the somewhat mysterious and gloomy tone of this piece adds to its alluring and curious nature.
Brian Busfield was a celebrated Contemporary painter. Born in the UK in 1926, the artist was known for his bold, dynamic abstract paintings, such as Devil's Dyke (1972), which is currently held in Brighton & Hove Museum & Art Gallery.
