Description A characterful vintage oil on canvas depicting a woman drawing water from a traditional hand-operated pump. The figure is portrayed wearing a pink headscarf, yellow blouse and richly patterned blue skirt, holding a brass water vessel beneath the pump. Executed with expressive, confident brushwork and a strong palette of turquoise blue, ochre, pink and earthy tones. The loosely painted architectural background and emphasis on colour and light give the work a distinctly mid-20th-century character. Signed lower right. The signature is difficult to decipher and the artist remains unidentified at present. Presented in a gilt frame with a broad pale fabric-covered inner mount.
